Freedom vs. Responsibility
Is freedom actually an illusion? Can responsibility impede on our Freedom?
Quote for today
You are free to take any action of your choice, but you are not free to choose the effect of such action.
Freedom vs. Responsibility
What’s Up? What’s your plan this weekend, plan to do something which would satisfy you and have rewarding outcome?
The concept of Freedom is a very promising Ideology imparted in our mindset right from our early days of existence. Assuring us that one day we shall be free to do what pleases us. But our loop-sided interpretation does not bring us to the realization of the responsibility comes with freedom.
As Philemon Uchechukwu well said:
Absolute freedom is an Illusion. The context of freedom should be best described as liberty. Liberty brings the consciousness of responsibility. While you have the freedom to do what you want, you also consider the consequences of such action.
Responsibility acts as a check and balance to our freedom.
Today article is a conjunction of insight from well-respected individuals. Before going further, I would like to bring to recognition the contributors: Philemon, Feranmi and Paschal Maurice.
From Feranmi:
Freedom is the act of being unrestrained, literally having the ability to act without regulation. Recently with new themes of inclusivity and diversity propelled to uphold the canons of freedom, we can say freedom is not what we really think it is.
Human beings can decide to make decisions, but it becomes a problem when such decisions affect the flow of life, that is why nature is surrounded or should I say programmed with an inert code that predicts it's certainty. Darwinism and Newtonian theories have explained that if these natural laws are followed there will be sync and harmony.
This brings us to the reality of laws and regulations; they are designed to ensure that these decisions don't infringe on the freedom of others because what is the actual use of freedom when it is affecting another person's freedom?
The concept of freedom therefore helps us to understand that while we are free, this right must not destroy the very universal code programmed to our natural habitat. This is why we must subject ourselves to both natural principles and discipline to ensure we are on the right track to impact and right living.
However, as I have disclosed earlier, concepts such as diversity and inclusivity have brought about a sense of lackadaisical feel that destroys what we see as freedom. These concepts which were to act as check and balance to the ultra vires of the male gender and the exclusion of certain races have turned into different versions of chivalry in terms of new vocabulary such as toxic masculinity, gender fluidity, racial misappropriation, sexuality among others.
This is where responsibility comes in, when freedom tends to exact its exitance, there is the need for the interference of the factor of responsibility to stop the evil potency freedom might bring.
Therefore, responsibility is the use of natural principles to exact true freedom.
True freedom breeds discipline and without responsibility, we can't exact it. We must then be disciplined enough to ensure that we subject ourselves to responsibility.
💡 Finally, life is made up of natural principles, when these principles are violated through scientific knowledge and exploration as well as feelings, rancor is bound to occur.
What’s Your Thought?
This session is dedicated to Paschal Maurice (An apostle in the making). I love his ability to distinguish the natural and spiritual perspective in this issue: Freedom vs. Responsibility.
From an Intellectual or Societal standpoint.
Freedom is the availability of the quality of peace, time and resources that make for a comfortable living or lifestyle.
NOTE: Anything that sustains the capacity to: take away your peace, regulate the availability of time at your disposal and does not give you the luxury of resources to have a comfortable living is bondage.
Responsibility is living for others or impacting humanity with your gifts, skills and talents. Freedom and Responsibility
From a scriptural standpoint;
Freedom is an unquestionable and undeniable redemption from the sinful nature, the powers of darkness and everything that is not consistent with the character of scriptures as patterned by Christ.
NOTE: True freedom can only be found in Christ.
Responsibility is the believer’s personal contribution to bring about the advancement of the kingdom and the departure of darkness through destiny discovery and purpose actualization.
“True freedom is not the absence of responsibility, but bondage.” —Paschal Maurice.
